Necromag (the hub of hard edged content from the whole spectrum of heavier genres) reviews Angelspit’s latest CD ‘THE PRODUCT’.

“Track after track of accessible, infectious industrial that is altogether danceable, memorable and packed with satisfying scorn.”

Angelspit – The Product.

The incomparable industrial punks return with another unique LP that feels closer in tone to ‘Hello My Name Is’ than any of their other material in the shape of ‘The Product’. While early teaser trailers painted a picture of a transhumanist future built on artificial youth (a topic touched on in ‘Pretty Dead Boys‘), ‘The Product’ is instead a catalogue of delicious, discordant, digital rock, rife with tales of consumption, collapse, corruption and abuse, but above all, that distinct atypical take on the genre Angelspit consistently offers.

Track after track of accessible, infectious industrial that is altogether danceable, memorable and packed with satisfying scorn.

The flow of ‘The Product’ all fits perfectly with the synthesized grooves, forceful guitars and sharp presence of Zoog and his co-conspirators.

‘The Product’ is excellent, and definitely an advancement for Angelspit. The themes and force are certainly there with lead single ‘Ambassador’ (Featuring Miss Ballistic) matching pithy drum crashes with the eloquent entendres of Zoog’s lyrics. A sideways glance at corporate drones drawn into and destroyed by the chaos and confusion of the business world is treated as equivalent to prostitution through the acerbic wit of Angelspit’s ever impressive wordsmith.

While initially a jarring kaleidoscope of cutting and mismatched anthems, the nature of ‘The Product’ couldn’t be clearer or more deftly woven. Artifice, superficiality and a culture of instant gratification are the stage set throughout this release, with each track a different player.
Ultimately telling a tale of loss of self and a loss of control in a world propelled by an unrelenting grind of consumption, manipulation, sex, drugs and commodification, humanity is ‘The Product’, the manufacturer, the consumer and the consumed.
However deep down the rabbit hole of discord and distortion you descend, this red and black rock soaked riot is a delight for the senses.
