Our new album is shaping up to be dark, raw and PUNK AS HELL. Guitars and synths battle it out whilst heavy metal drums, modular bleeps and industrial percussion go head to head in all-out WAR…it’s shaping up to be a killer!
A major feature in this album is the way BIG GUITARS and BIG SYNTHS co-exist…there’s only so much “sonic room” a sound can occupy, and when two massive “frequency hogging” sounds are playing the same riff, things can get complicated…

Rule of thumb:
Big Guitars + Big Synths = cluttered mud

Possible solutions:
Think of it as a conversation between two loud, dominating and opinionated people. The trick is to start it out as a conversation and let it build to an “argument” – where the guitars and synths start trying to shout each other down.

The first time you state to main riff, make it a “call and response” -ie: the guitars say the first part of the riff, the synths say the second part.

Gradually let the parts overlap, until it ends in a screaming match.

Remember: nothing beats the simple sonic power of a big guitar or a big synth chewing on a riff. If you want to hear it cleanly, make sure only one big voice speaks at a time. Once you have established order, LET CHAOS REIGN!
