BLURB: Vocoder = Awesome blah blah Cylons, Earth Wind and Fire blah blah blah afro stevie wonder hot juicy sex with a Synthi blah blah blah…

F*ckin’ awesome. everyone needs 2! We also have a WARP FACTORY which is great, but the Doepfer is seriously AWESOME!! It paints your voice in a thick layer of luscious “vocoder honey”. We only have the very basic set up. We would buy the complete set up, but we keep spending all our money on huge elaborate photoshoots…and whores and drugs and fast cars…

PROS: Doepfer’s modular vocoder is really awesome. Because it’s modular, you can treat each of the 13 bands. Each of the 13 bands has a voltage output….this voltage output can drive an Oscillator, filter or whatever.

EG: Put a drum loop through the vocoder.
Take the lower Freq CV output (in the range of the kick drum) and patch it into the Filter input of your bass synth.
Use the mid CV output (in the range of the snare) and use it to open the VCA of a noise snare
Use the hi CV output (high hats) and use it to control the FM on a 16th synth line.

Hours of fun!!

Plus the 13 frequency bands are accurately tuned. Each band has a specific frequency responce….which is handy.

CONS: it does not have an overload indicator on the Instrument Input or Speech Input…BUT, it does sound mighty juicy when you start distorting it!

HINT: Put your synth pads through a vocoder and colour them using long vowel sounds. This adds a great dynamic to your chords.
