THE NEBULA SUITE
ANGELSPIT/ICE PLANET 9000
Ice Planet 9000’s third album “The Nebula Suite” is an exploration into long form Dark Ambient music. It is rich, complex, and profoundly visual.
Containing 7 tracks, over 2 hours in length. Available on double CD, digitally and on all streaming services.
They spent over 18 months working on the music, sound design, gathering samples and synth programming. The tracks were further developed during streamed improvisations, then recorded live. This gives the album a fresh and spontaneous energy. One particular instrument to feature is the Blaster Beam – a six-foot aluminum beam with 11 piano wires tuned to the low threshold of human hearing.
“The Nebula Suite” is heavily inspired by 70s sci-fi synth sounds, the visions of Jodorowsky’s Dune, and early Krautrock.
Ice Planet 9000 is also establishing themselves as a formidable live experience. Audiences are comparing the live shows to the early electro-Krautrock shows of the 70s.
“We want to make you feel like it’s 1974, you are in an abandoned warehouse in Berlin watching a barrage of strange electronic music machines transport you to the center of our Galaxy. Anything is possible. Absolutely anything.”

TRACKLIST:
- 1.1 The Horsehead 14:04 90 BPM
What began as a spontaneous improvisation evolved into something extraordinary. I created some initial sounds, collected a variety of samples, and jotted down a few rough ideas. The track was recorded live resulting in a raw and energetic sound that captures the excitement of a live performance. It was an absolute joy to create!
SYNTHS: Moog Voyager, Sequential Prophet Rev2, Kurzweil K-2000v3
OUTBOARD: Yamaha 02r96, Roland SDE-330 Delay, Roland SRV-330 Reverb
The Horsehead Nebula is located 1,375 light-years from Earth in Orion’s Belt with a radius of 3.5 light-years. - 1.2 The Eagle 15:29 75 BPM
Inspired by the early-mid ‘70s ‘Berlin School’ sound, this track meditates on the idea that “We are created to gaze at stars, ponder their magnificence, and embody their beauty and potential.” The melody is simple and gentle, allowing the surrounding music to swirl with colors and complexity. I absolutely love playing this track live.
SYNTHS: E-mu Emulator IV, MiniMoog Voyager
OUTBOARD: Yamaha 02r96, Roland SDE-330 Delay, Roland SRV-330 Reverb
The Eagle Nebula is located in the constellation Serpens. It is approximately 7,000 light-years away from Earth. - 1.3 Thor’s Helmet 7:01 120 BPM
Immense, grand, magical, and uplifting, this is my homage to the beauty of this Nebula. The main melody is played on the Moog Voyager, an instrument known for its smooth and expressive qualities. The Emulator IV provides lush samples that enhance the dreamy soundscape.
SYNTHS: Modular Synth, E-mu Emulator IV, SCI Prophet Rev2, Moog One
OUTBOARD: Yamaha 02r96, Roland SDE-330 Delay, Roland SRV-330 Reverb
Thor’s Helmet Nebula is an emission nebula about 12,000 light-years away. It spans 30 light-years and features a bubble shape with complex filaments. The central star is a hot Wolf-Rayet star. - 1.4 Asé 13:02 96 BPM
I had a wonderful time creating this track. “Asé” is an immensely powerful word from Yoruba philosophy. It signifies the force that brings about change and makes things happen. It can also be used to summon ancestors to a meeting place, inviting their wisdom to guide us.
This cantor serves as a call to prayer from an ancient alien ziggurat.
SYNTHS: E-mu EMAX I #1, E-mu EMAX I #2, SCI Prophet Rev2,
E-mu Emulator IV, MiniMoog Voyager, My voice (!)
OUTBOARD: Yamaha 02r96, Roland SDE-330 Delay, Roland SRV-330 Reverb - 1.5 The Wave 12:15 93 BPM
I wanted to create a piece that would allow me to explore the immense drone possibilities of The BlasterBeam. This 12-minute composition features its supremely deep tones, alongside my vocals and Modular Synthesizer. My voice repeats a simple, alien-like chant while massive sonic waves of The BlasterBeam rise and fall, reminiscent of Europa’s tides being compelled by Jupiter. This track is one of my favorites on the album and is mesmerizing to perform live.

SEX: The BlasterBeam - 2.1 The Crab 19:11 80 BPM
Otherworldly piano transforms into colossal, galactic waves of synthesizers. This soundscape is based on live improvisation, created with the Emulator IV – it’s a beautiful, massive-sounding synthesizer.
SYNTHS: E-mu Emulator IV
OUTBOARD: Yamaha 02r96, Roland SDE-330 Delay, Roland SRV-330 Reverb
The Crab Nebula is a supernova remnant in Taurus, 6,500 light-years away. It spans 11 light-years and contains the Crab Pulsar, a rapidly spinning neutron star. - 2.2 The Helix 38:49 90 BPM
This live improvisation uses vintage EMAX samplers. Some sounds were created by me, while others were taken from early 80s EMAX libraries. The limitations of the EMAX inspired many new ideas.
SYNTHS: E-mu EMAX I #1, E-mu EMAX I #2
OUTBOARD: Yamaha 02r96, Roland SDE-330 Delay, Roland SRV-330 Reverb
The Helix Nebula is a planetary nebula about 650 light-years away. It spans 2.5 light-years. The central star, a white dwarf, illuminates the expelled gases, creating a striking appearance often called the “Eye of God”. - 2.3 Orion’s Bow 11:16 120 BPM
This track features The BlasterBeam being slowly bowed for 11 minutes. Each bow is unique, and it’s all one take – no additional reverbs or effects used.
I hope you listen carefully and appreciate the rich, deep, resonant, and glorious sound of The BlasterBeam. When I listen to this track with headphones, it almost puts me into a trance.
