On January 31st Zoog streamed a jam session with his modular synths. Angelspit have made the files FREE for use in your tracks.

These files were recorded using a Roland TR-626 as the main timing device….no PCs or MACs were harmed during this demonstration. Pre 1985 Technology…HELL YEAH!

The first few days of remixing a beautiful track are the hardest…you need to brutally torture the track until you scrape the skin away to find it’s true self. Then, with salt and urine, you must guide the track to holiness and redemption.

I’ve been in HEAPS of bands…and most of them end in screaming matches. To often people are not on the same page. Here are the common problems:
Art Vs Pop music.
Money.
“Serious” band Vs “Hobby” Band
“Really amazing musicians with drug problems” Vs “Mediocre inventive musicians with boring hair…but are reliable and sober”

Advice: Write amazing music and “hire” other musicians to play it live.
Just do it. Wait for no-one. Rely only on yourself.

Choose the Mediocre musician. Practice improves with time. Pay for a stylist to make them look hot (or whatever).

A train wreck will always be a train wreck - unless you want to focus on helping them fix their shit…as opposed to focusing on the music.
…but seriously, why the fuck should you fix their self-absorbed problems?

I think I’ve finally figured out your problem…
(forgive me for telling you how to live you’re life, but it’s obvious you need help)

YOUR PROBLEM IS GUILT.
You have surrounded yourself with STUFF…stuff that you now feel obligated to use.
eg:
That synthesizer: you wanted to master it but ran out of time.

That sewing machine: you wanted to start making your own clothes…but can’t find the time.

That awesome fake furr you picked up while you were in Milan: Yes, it’s SOOO COOOL, and you were going to make an INSANE jacket with it….but you’re waiting to learn how to use the sewing machine.

That Fender Electric guitar: You are still driven to learn to shred it…after you’re mastered the synth.

That paint sprayer: you were going to give your bike a custom paint job…but ran out of time…

…so now your tiny apartment is cluttered with STUFF (mostly unused), and you cart it with you every time you move.

All of this STUFF is a constant reminder THAT YOU SUCK….hence, you go home and feel extremely bummed out and anxious.

…but you don’t suck…you are just crap at managing your time!

ZOOG’S SUGGESTION:
GET OFF THE FUCKING INTERNET. Spend 2 night working on your projects. NO TV. NO INTERNET. NO MOBILE PHONE. Religiously stick to these nights. Make them a habit. eg:
Monday Night: you will make music.
Wednesday Night: you will work on making clothes.

Increasingly it’s common to meet someone who does not own a TV….but it’s rare to find someone who does not have the internet. Be bold - for 2 nights a week I challenge you to get unplugged. I guarantee your creative output will go through the roof…plus you’ll probably sleep better….

Get disconnected. Get a life.
The person without distraction WINS.
