ELEGY IBERICA Magazine (Portugal) interviews Angelspit
With Angelspit we have tried to create music which has a genuine punk edge, in the lyrics, the aggression and the instrumentation. Even though we are largely an electronic band we don't want to write clean music, and these influences have a grungy, dirty edge which we have adopted. We have more in common with Nirvana than Covenant in sound and in concept because we're trying to make aggressive, hell raising turbulent music which reflects our world.

Peccavis reviews Nurse Grenade

Nurse Grenade EP

There are few local acts that really nail home societies upside down values and flaws, fortunately though Angelspit represent just this niche and do it with a refreshing, ruthlessness and blatant honesty.

Angelspit's latest release 'Nurse Grenade' smashes the industrial mould hammering the way into new territory and the future. The EP features six tracks of industrial madness to jack hammer your brain. The EP has taken some time to come though along the way there have been a few teasers, including two insane remixes for local act Anxiety Whispers that alone were enough to have one salivating at the mouth for what was to come. The duos first EP – Nurse Grenade – is here though and comes just in time for an industrially starved scene.

The EP opens with Maggot; an anthem for the corporate working class slaves.
Had a bad day at work, feeling pretty worthless, your rectum sore? Any of this sounding familiar? Diagnosis – Maggot syndrome. This is exactly what the EPs opening track is about which is a topic I’m sure anyone who’s ever had a job can relate to.

Probably one of the most appealing tracks on the EP is Fuck Fashion which points the finger directly at pop culture. This track serves up commercialism and media hype raw on a platter with a butcher’s knife.
This is a catchy track that could go a long way to healing a scared race of fashion slaves.

Nurse Grenade, the track from which the EP takes its title is in comparison to the other tracks a slow off the wall groove. It’s a powerful track though and has some very interesting lyrics. The track left me wondering if the duo isn’t building a cybernetic dolly in their basement from spare body parts and old computers.

On the whole the Nurse Grenade EP is an exciting trip into the mechanical minds of the duo. The pair fuses an awesome array of samples and sounds into their music and the beats are thick and meaty. The vocals are generally harmonised – if one can call the effects of the nerve jangling vocoder harmony that is – and the guitars are a pleasingly distorted sonic attack. The duos lyrics are what really shine though showing plenty of substance and heart. All up the EP shows a very together sound and good structure.
