An interview with Yen Magazine,
April 2006.
Q: How do you describe
your sound? (Industrial cyber-punk?)
Harsh, hard, agressive, loud, distorted analogue
mayhem!
Q: Most debaucherous gig you've performed?
(details)
Most gigs are pretty out of control. We give the
show everything we have, and we go pretty out of control if possible.
Most gigs end in a puddle of sweat, latex and burning transistors.
"The Coven" in Hobart comes to mind. We played there in
January we trashed the keyboard rig and blew the power. They were
an awesome audience to play to!
Q: Cyber-punk has overtones of culture jam
do you see your music as a positive force for social or personal
change?
Definitely. We want our music to be empowering
and inspiring. We want to incite creative riots within people. We're
sick of people having their lives dictated to them by mainstream
media and television.
People need to start making their own realities.
Q: Who inspires you music, books, film?
Music: Skinny Puppy, Sonic Youth, The Faint.
Film: Akira, Bladerunner, Dogville, Lemony Snicket
Books/Art: Bill Henson, Butoh dancers, local zines
Q: Zoog One gig in history you wish you
had attended?
Alternative Nation 1992 (Nirvana, NIN, Jane's Addiction).
Q: DestroyX Most inspiring women in music
now riot grrls, cyber-punks?
Diamanda Galas, Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), Annika
and Gena (Cobra Killer).
Q: Fashion is as important as music in goth
scenes, and you promote your look as much as your music how
does your slogan "Fuck Fashion" relate?
Get empowered, don't be told what to wear. Make
up your own mind.
We're not telling people that they should look like us, but that
they should find their own way of expressing themselves that isn't
dictated by mainstream trends.
Q: Any closing words:
'Krankhaus', Angelspit's new album is anticipated
to be released in April 2006. It pushes sonic and visual boundaries,
through dark
convulsing beats, malformed vocals and disturbing imagery. |
