ELEGY IBERICA Magazine (Portugal) interviews Angelspit
With Angelspit we have tried to create music which has a genuine punk edge, in the lyrics, the aggression and the instrumentation. Even though we are largely an electronic band we don't want to write clean music, and these influences have a grungy, dirty edge which we have adopted. We have more in common with Nirvana than Covenant in sound and in concept because we're trying to make aggressive, hell raising turbulent music which reflects our world.

ANGELSPIT Interview in Dead People Taste Funny Webzine
Interview by Chris

What's behind the name "Angelspit"?

We stole it from a Sonic Youth lyric.

At the end of the day, what does Angelspit hope to accomplish?

"Change or die. grow or die. make good music or I’ll fucking kill you."
- Angelspit

Good music...?!
We want to inspire people to think for themselves and throw away their TVs and get creative.
We want to be the best artists we can be. We want to make the best music and visuals we can. Angelspit is our constant attempt at doing our best.

Name several of your biggest influences, either musical, non-musical or both:

When I was a kid, I made go-karts. I used to weld in this huge industrial workshop.
My Grandparents ran a metal workshop. They build HUGE farming equipment there.
Arc welding produced a certain smell…and I kinda liked it.
The clanging of metal would reverberate in this place, plus the smell of the special lubricant they used to keep the metal lathe’s Bit (cutting thingy) working. It was all rather sexual.
We like music with balls and attitude. Music is a finely crafted art that must be mastered. People are shitting out formulaic electro drivel in a matter of hours and calling it a “song”…fuck that, it sounds like a draft - a work in progress.
There is so much fantastic music being created by people who don’t give a fuck about “getting signed”, or sucking some DJs cock. They just make awesome music because they are driven too do it.
The internet has liberated us from the corporate chains of whore pop….it’s another (overdue) PUNK revolution!

Angelspit's ideology seems to boil down to: Create, Think, Change. Where does this come from, and why is this so important?

Change or die. grow or die. make good music or I’ll fucking kill you.

"You are a beautiful being worthy of love and respect. You can achieve great things, if only you’d stop being a lazy self obsessed fuck."
- Angelspit

Also, what would you say to the world, or anyone in particular, if you could?

You are a beautiful being worthy of love and respect. You can achieve great things, if only you’d stop being a lazy self obsessed fuck.

Seriously, stop browsing the eBay, stop withering away on the web. MAKE ART…
Grab your camera, make a zine, learn how to beat mix, learn to play the guitar – GET ACTIVE.

If Angelspit could tour with anyone, who and why?

Sonic Youth or Skinny Puppy or KMFDM!!!!!!

These bands ROCK. Their fans ROCK.

ROCK!

ZooG.
